 Introduction
Haemorrhoid is the medical term for the pile. The varicose rectal veins are called piles. These varicose veins are located around the anus and anal canal. The external piles are outside anal canal near anal opening and those varicose veins located inside (2 to 4 cm deep) in the anal canal and rectum (the anal canal is the terminal part of the large intestine. It is situated between the rectum and anus), which is called Internal Piles.
Piles or Haemorrhoids are collections of inflamed tissue in the rectum or anal canal. The Haaemorrhoid contains sinusoids (blood vessels), connective tissue or support tissue, elastic fibers, and smooth muscles. There are different sizes of piles. Internal hemorrhoids often result in painless, bright red and rectal bleeding while defecating. External piles often result in pain (sometimes-throbbing pain) and inflammation around anus. If bleeding in external piles, it would be darker in color.
Common Symptoms

Grades of Pile
The piles are categorized into four grades.
Grade 1- The grade 1 pile is not able to be seen and is usually located inside the lining of the anus and they are tiny inflamed veins. Slight pain and itching may occur. Usually subsides without treatment.
Grade2- The grade 2 piles are comparatively larger than grade 1 piles and usually remain in the anal canal and move toward out during the bowel movement and retain back. Bleeding may occur.
Grade3- The grade 3 piles have seen the exterior of anus and they are called prolapsed haemorrhoids. They are large structures.
Grade4- The grade 4 piles are large inflamed structures and linger on the anus.

Ayurveda and Disorders
The fundamental principle of Ayurvedic treatment is the maintenance and promotion of body, healthiness, the prevention of disease as well its cure. Inside a human body, there are found, Tri Doshas (three principles) i.e. Vata (catabolism), Pitta (metabolism) and Kapha (anabolism). The tri doshas govern all the metabolic activities of the body. Any imbalance in the Vata, pitta, and Kapha can affect the body adversely or results in a disorder. Ayurveda believes in treatment, not just the affected part, but also the individual a whole. Because of the prevailing nature of modern lifestyle, unusual food habits especially junk foodstuffs, various ailments, etc. invariably the human body becomes a dumping ground of unnecessary, and unlimited toxic and waste substances (free radicals). These free radicals are the sole cause of different types of diseases in human beings. Pile is one of the most common lifestyle diseases of modern times like hypertension, obesity, diabetes and the likes.
